Intervention

Level 1

Interventions to be used by all staff when the student experiences initial difficulty.

  • Parent Contact
  • Peer Tutoring
  • Preferential Seating
  • Pull student to the back during last 10 minutes of class for 1 on 1.
  • Check for Understanding
  • Conversations with the student individually
  • Ask student to explain process for solving a problem
  • Communicate with child’s extracurricular sponsor for motivation.
  • Other Interventions listed in Intervention Bank              (will be on the HHS Teacher website soon)

Level 2

School-wide systems for all students when they do not respond to Level 1

  • Communication between Assistant Principal, Counselor, Student and Parent
  • Mandatory Tutorials during T-Time (3:05 – 3:30)
  • Before School or After School Tutorials (Teacher discretion)
  • Study Hall in Cafeteria during T-Time (3:05 – 3:30) for students who are failing any core class.

Level 3

School-wide systems for identified at-risk students.

  • Communication between Assistant Principal, Counselor, Teachers, Student and Parent.
  • Content Mastery  (NGI, 10GI and Special Education students only) 
  • Other students must be referred to Content Mastery by Student Intervention Team
  • Lunch and Learn – Students assigned to CM during Lunch to catch up on work.
  • Student is assigned teacher mentor to ensure that he/she passes all classes and all TAKS tests.
  • Assign NHS Mentors to work with students during T-Time
  • Guided Study Hall for students who are failing multiple classes (in CM room)

Level 4

Strategic Plan for At-Risk Students who continue to fail.

  • Communication between Assistant Principal, Counselor, Teachers, All other involved Staff, Student and Parent.
  • At-Risk Math students assigned to Julie Smith during T-Time.
  • Pulling from Elective Classes no more than 2 times per week for tutorials
  • Schedule student to TAKS Tutorial Class for Math and/or Science
  • Schedule student for Read 180 for ELA
