Graduation Credit Requirements 9th thru 12th grade-31 credits required Technology Graduation Requirement One of the following courses can be taken to
fulfill the technology requirement for graduation: Business Information Management, all grades; Computer Maintenance
or Computer Programming, 10th grade and up; Digital & Interactive Media, 11th & 12th graders only. . College/Career Readiness Requirement Students will be required to take 1 credit in a college/career readiness course, which includes AP courses,
dual credit courses, CTE advanced courses, and leadership/service courses. Recommended Program This curriculum is the recommended program for college and technical school preparation.
Students are required to complete 26 specified credits plus additional HISD local requirement courses. Distinguished Achievement
Program Students on the Recommended Plan may wish to advance one step to the Distinguished Achievement
Plan. This is the most rigorous of the state graduation programs. It includes one more year of foreign language (3 of same
language) and four advanced measures, which could be any combination of original research or project, test data, or college
courses.
Texas Scholars Students will be named Texas Scholars who complete the Recommended Program or Distinguished
Achievement Program course requirements, plus additional requirements which include completing two courses of high school
eligible for college credit such as AP courses, dual-credit courses or CTE courses which lead to post-secondary certification.
Texas Scholars with Merit These students have met
the requirement for Texas Scholars while choosing Precalculus, AP Calculus AB/BC, or Independent Studies in Math-Trigonometry/Probability
Statistics as the fourth math.
Early Graduation Students may be able to graduate in three or three and one-half years. Application must be made through the guidance department
and official forms signed by parents in order to exercise either option. The decision to graduate at mid-year must be made
by the end of the junior year so that full-year courses such as English 4 can be begun in the summer before the senior year.
This option is only available to students who have been enrolled in Hallsville High School prior to the second term of their
junior year. NCAA Academic Requirements NCAA regulations stipulate that all academic "core"
courses be completed during high school for eligibility in Division I or Division II college athletes. Students must have
16 core courses. Students attending all four years at HHS will meet the "core" requirements when they graduate under
the Recommended Program. Other students must ensure that they meet the requirements set by the NCAA. NCAA Division I and Division
II college eligibility requirements also include varying ACT/SAT and "core" course requirements. Athletes need to
register with the NCAA Clearinghouse after their junior year. "Core" courses are listed below:

1, 2; AP English 3, 4; Journalism; Practical Writing; Communication Applications Math-Algebra 1, 2; Geometry; Math Models;
Pre-Calculus; AP Calculus AB; AP Calculus BC; Trigonometry; Independent Study in Mathematics Social Studies-U.S. History,
World Geography, World History, Government, Economics, Sociology Science-Integrated Physics and Chemistry, Environmental
Science, Biology, Pre-AP Biology, Principles of Technology, Chemistry, Pre-AP Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Physics Language-
French 1, 2, 3, 4; Spanish 1, 2, 3, 4 (HHS will begin offering American Sign Language in 2010-2011.)
